Shop lighting should support the merchandise, the fixture and the customer journey at the same time. Even brightness and good colour rendition help products read clearly, while hidden light sources keep attention on the display rather than the hardware.
Choose the component around the fixture
Illuminated shelves
Acrylic light guide shelves can combine the display surface and the light source in one component. They are useful when the fixture needs a clean visual appearance with no separate light bar.
Backlit panels and light boxes
Edge-lit or directly backlit panels suit branded graphics, display cases and wall-mounted light boxes. The required evenness, panel size and available depth determine the optical construction.
Concealed COB strip
COB strip can produce a continuous light line in cabinets and shallow coves. Shielding, beam angle and distance to the illuminated surface are as important as the strip output itself.
Information for a shopfitting lighting quotation
- Fixture drawing and store application
- Length, depth, height and available light-source space
- Number of shelves or illuminated surfaces per store
- Target brightness, CCT and CRI
- Voltage, driver location and electrical access
- Sample requirement, rollout quantity and delivery schedule
A retail rollout multiplies any design issue. Approve the sample for brightness, uniformity, colour, fit, cable routing and installation before ordering multiple stores or fixtures.
Production and rollout considerations
For multi-site projects, agree the approved material, LED binning, wiring and packaging standard. If drawings or branding change between phases, the lighting layout should be reviewed again rather than assumed interchangeable.
